Interview with GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : Frank Scott: What is the main principle, idea and inspiration behind your design?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : the basic idea comes from the vintage video games(John Conway's Game of Life) and computer graphics in the late 70's and early 80's and tries to use it as a digitally created pattern applied on textile. .Frank Scott: What has been your main focus in designing this work? Especially what did you want to achieve?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : it's all about bringing the new possibilities to make things in a different way.in specific making a wearable platform capable to interact and communicate with human . .Frank Scott: What are your future plans for this award winning design?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : this concept is capable to inspire fashion and high-tech consumer electronics industry to new solutions for intelligent materials and textiles. .Frank Scott: How long did it take you to design this particular concept?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : entire process of design,research and prototyping took about 6 mouths. .Frank Scott: Why did you design this particular concept? Was this design commissioned or did you decide to pursuit an inspiration?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : this experimental project is considered as a part of bachelor study program in politecnico di milano. .Frank Scott: Is your design being produced or used by another company, or do you plan to sell or lease the production rights or do you intent to produce your work yourself?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : in any case of interest,the prototype and all intellectual rights are transferable. .Frank Scott: What made you design this particular type of work?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : personal interest. .Frank Scott: Where there any other designs and/or designers that helped the influence the design of your work?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : inspiration by John Conway and Vivienne westwood. .Frank Scott: Who is the target customer for his design?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : the art and design museums or R&D sectors in fashion and textile industries or show business or collection owner can be considered as customer. .Frank Scott: What sets this design apart from other similar or resembling concepts?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : this is wearable and flexible,and the open source digital device bring variety of functions and aspects. .Frank Scott: How did you come up with the name for this design? What does it mean?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : "fashion interaction" may suite well the whole idea behind this concept.it means to have a dialog with what you wear trough a digital device. .Frank Scott: Which design tools did you use when you were working on this project?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : some traditional tools and Technics like pattern makings,swing Technics, and of course computer softwares like wiring program environmental. .Frank Scott: What is the most unique aspect of your design?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : combination of old and new makes it different: vintage computer graphics,modern electronic devices,retro fashion style,... .Frank Scott: Who did you collaborate with for this design? Did you work with people with technical / specialized skills?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : this is a solo project. .Frank Scott: What is the role of technology in this particular design?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : the inspiration,design,prototyping all are based on technology. .Frank Scott: Is your design influenced by data or analytical research in any way? What kind of research did you conduct for making this design?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : the research areas expend in different fields like:life style,art and culture and technological aspects in other hand, basically focused on 80's. .Frank Scott: What are some of the challenges you faced during the design/realization of your concept?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : design the electronic devices ,large amount of wiring and swing job all done by hand. .Frank Scott: How did you decide to submit your design to an international design competition?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : to promote and interduce this concept and probably develop it. .Frank Scott: What did you learn or how did you improve yourself during the designing of this work?. GHOLAMALI BALOUCH : the fact of being independent helped much to resolve the unexpected problems. .
